Really lovely stay overall! The surroundings are peaceful, and beautiful. We stayed in the main house which was immaculate and the kitchen was well-supplied with utensils etc.
Why four stars and not five? I think a few things could be better. Our room did not have a chair or even a closet. Since many people staying here are attending area weddings or other formal venues, a place to hang clothing would be helpful (a bridal party also staying here hung their dresses on the front porch). A chair in the bedroom would also be helpful (my husband had to sit on the toilet to put on his shoes ;( ). Upon our arrival, the bathroom was not equipped with toilet paper, so we had to hunt for some. Likewise regarding extra towels.
Lastly, we were a bit taken aback by the messes that other guests were leaving in common areas as well as behaviors. When we arrived on Friday evening, there were emptied cans, paper cups, food, and trash strewn all over the front porch. Saturday morning, the kitchen was left awry with remnant food left in the sink and the strainer, crumbs all over the counter and tables. There was quite a bit of noise on Saturday night, particularly from clearly inebriated guests falling up the stairs, and being loud with conversation and laughter. I have nothing against celebrations, but I do think it's important to be respectful of others.
I wish there had been more on-site/visible oversight. While I would stay here again, next time I will ask about other venues/guests so that I can be better prepared.
